ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. – Rockingham County, All Points Broadband, and Dominion Energy Virginia held a groundbreaking ceremony for a fiber-to-the-home broadband project that will deliver service to unserved homes and businesses in Rockingham County representing a total investment of over $55 million. The Rockingham project is funded through investments by Rockingham County, the Department of Housing and Community Development’s Virginia Telecommunications Initiative, All Points Broadband, and Dominion Energy Virginia. Rockingham County is the tenth Virginia county where All Points Broadband has construction underway or completed through public-private partnerships and partnership with Dominion Energy Virginia.
“Connectivity with high-speed internet is essential throughout all corners of Rockingham County,” said Joel Hensley, Chair of the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors. “This project allows residents to work and stay connected wherever they may live, and it ensures that every family and business in our community can get the reliable service they need to keep up in today’s world. We’re committed to closing that gap and bringing folks the connectivity they deserve.”
“We are continuing our push to expand broadband across the Commonwealth,” said Senator Mark Warner. “I am thrilled to celebrate the groundbreaking of this substantial Rockingham County project. For decades now, dating back to my time as governor, I have worked to secure funding for this crucial work, and this project is a testament to what can be achieved when federal, state, local and private partners come together.”
“Today’s groundbreaking for All Points Broadband marks a significant step forward for Rockingham County,” said Delegate Chris Runion. “Expanding reliable internet access will unlock new opportunities for our families, businesses, and students. This project is a powerful example of what we can accomplish when public and private partners work together to strengthen our community’s infrastructure.”
