How fixed wireless works:

Transmitters broadcast high-speed internet signals directly to a fixed receiver installed on your home’s exterior. Superior to other services like satellite internet, fixed wireless signals travel shorter distances, are less impacted by weather, and generally do not suffer from latency (lag time) issues.

The future is fiber

When it comes to internet technology, there’s no match for fiber. At All Points Broadband, we are continually working to expand our fiber network and plan to run fiber to most fixed wireless areas we currently serve in the future. As a fixed wireless plan subscriber with All Points Broadband, you can immediately switch to fiber once it is available without finishing your fixed wireless contract.

Questions about fixed wireless internet?

An antenna will be installed at your location where the strongest signal can be achieved. A Cat5 cable will connect your antena to a power supply inside your house, and the power supply will connect to your network via an Ethernet cable. If you wish, you may add a wireless router in order to receive a Wi-Fi signal throughout your home.

We use a variety of antennas to provide the best quality of service. The type of antenna will be determined at the time of the site survey. Our support staff will be able to give you more details once this is completed. The radio/antenna is mounted on your home or in another location with a clear view of our access point.

Your wireless router broadcasts in radio frequencies that are shared by other wireless products like cordless phones, bluetooth devices, baby monitors and other routers. As a result, wireless signals within the home may interfere with one another. Wireless interference can cause slow service, choppy streaming and connection drops. All Points Broadband cannot control these radio frequencies in your home. You would experience the same interference issues regardless of your Internet Service Provider

A power injector uses Power Over Ethernet (POE) technology to transmit electricity to the radio that provides your service. Please be sure the cable plugged into the port labeled “POE” is the cable that connects to the radio. Also, be sure the cable plugged into the “LAN” port on the power injector connects to the port labeled “WAN” or “Internet” on the back of your wireless router.

It is very important that your power injector remains plugged into a working, surge-protected electrical outlet at all times. If your power injector comes unplugged, your radio may be ‘orphaned’ and we will need to perform a chargeable service call to restore your connection.
