First Northumberland County Customer Connected to All Points Broadband’s Regional Fiber Broadband Network

September 28, 2023

Lottsburg, VA – The Northern Neck Broadband Initiative celebrated its first fiber-to-the-home broadband connection to select locations in Northumberland County. A total of 271 Northumberland locations can receive internet service today, with an additional 1,200 locations coming online in the near future thanks to the partnership between All Points Broadband, Northern Neck Electric Cooperative, Dominion Energy Virginia, Northumberland County, the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development and the Northern Neck Planning District Commission.

Residents and businesses can sign up for project updates and pre-register for service by visiting apbfiber.com. Service is now available across much of Richmond and Northumberland Counties, with additional counties expected to be connected by year’s end. Construction throughout the Northern Neck is ongoing and All Points Broadband thanks residents for their patience as we complete this once-in-a-generation infrastructure project.

“The Northern Neck Broadband Initiative was the first of its kind: a regional fiber broadband partnership with five counties, two electric utilities, a regional planning district commission, and All Points Broadband. I want to thank all the project partners for their hard work in getting to this moment, in particular Northern Neck Electric Cooperative” said Jimmy Carr, CEO of All Points Broadband. “Today we recognize another County connected and tomorrow we set our sights on finishing the project and connecting the region’s unserved.”

The Northern Neck Regional Broadband Initiative is building fiber-to-the-home broadband to over 7,500 unserved locations in King George, Westmoreland, Richmond, Northumberland, and Lancaster Counties. The grant is coordinated by the Northern Neck Planning District Commission and supported by $13 million in funding through the Virginia Telecommunication Initiative. Residents can visit apbfiber.com to register for service, determine whether their location is included in the project, and sign up for project updates.
